Dear Ladies, Each of you has inspired me and I think we have done something wrong that we aren’t championing each other better.
I know I haven’t been very good at it and I want to rectify this.
Now.
Face it ladies, we aren’t perfect. Hell, I make mistakes every day. But if we aren’t here to support the AMAZING work that we are each doing we are doing it wrong. Each of us have accomplished so much for ourselves, other women, the business community and the economy. We should be building each other up instead of knocking each other down.
I want to pledge to you that my goal is to cheerlead you until my voice is raw! I want to give back to you all that I can and support you in any way that is possible. There is enough room in the region, state, nation, world for all of us and our great work. If you ever hear me talking poorly about another woman, you just slap me (well, gently, I’m delicate). Seriously. No one has time for that.
Cheers to you and you and you! I can’t wait to bring out my pom pom’s for each and every one of you.
Jackie
PS: I sent a version of this letter in 2015 to a select group of women and although there have been missteps I still believe it. I believe it for all of us. Today #NWARKCares is celebrating National Women’s Friendship Day and, if I dig deep, I know that this promise, this ideal, is something I need to remember on the daily. It is just too easy to see all of you lovely ladies as competition and, really, you aren’t. You are doing your thing and I’m doing mine and it is all wonderful.
