Yesterday I shared my #9MagicGoals for my personal life (I’m super excited)! I also created 9 business goals for my work life. They are separate because they have a different energy and focus (some probably overlap, but these are a good focus for the year).
How I Created My Business Goals
You will laugh when you figure out how easy this is.
- Grab a Post It Note (will they just be my sponsor all ready!)
- Write the numbers 1-9 down the side.
- Write out your goals as quick a possible. Don’t overthink them because that is what will freeze you. Do you want to grow by adding a new revenue stream – on the list! Do you want to add an assistant? On the list. Do you want to refine your offerings? On the list! They don’t have to be double your income, pay off all your debt, or move into a new office (they can be those). They can be simple, clearly stated, move your business forward if you just did these nine things kinds of goals.
My Business Goals for the New Year
Speak at 6 New Events. I speak a lot (It is how I make at least a quarter of my income.) I want to expand the groups I speak at and make new relationships. Need a speaker?
Finish My Book. I’ve been dabbling in writing a book called Relentless Authenticity for two years and it is time I just finished it. I reread it at my last TCOYOS retreat and it has good bones. It’s ready to be finished.
Find a Book Agent. I know that if I write the book I have to find someone to help me sell the book. This is a HUGE goal (kind of like doubling the income kind of goal). I’m scared/excited about the prospect of making this happen.
Create 4 New Passive Income Products. My product is me. I speak, teach, lead projects, lead teams, teach teams… and I love it, but I have to develop a few ways to generate income that aren’t about me being in the room.
Do you have business goals for you and your teams? Time to make some! #9MagicGoals #DoGoodWork

Book 12 Guest Posts/Interviews. I want to broaden my network and this is a great way to do that. I have one booked already! I’ll be guest posting this month on Jerusalem Greer’s blog.
Find a Mentor. I mentor Future Business Leaders of America teens, I mentor coaching clients, I mentor friends, but I am looking for that person to help push me further in my work/life. Is that you? I’m seriously taking applications.
Build my Reputation/Relationships. Sometimes, and I seriously think this is because I’m a GenX and have a rebel streak, I forget that it’s all about relationships and I don’t nurture them. I don’t want to get out of my cozy pants and go to the event/meeting. I don’t want to have coffee, yet again and talk about nothing. What I forget is that showing up and building relationships is how you move things. So, this year this is top of mind for me.
Build Webinars. I host webinars roughly once a month, but my goal for 2016 is to consistently grow that to twice a month.
The Magic Blank Goal. #9 has come to be the space that I leave blank to be open to the possibilities.
Cheers to the new year! I can’t wait to share about the progress and pitfalls (life is like that you know) of the year with you. Do you have separate business/life goals? I’d love to know about them.
